Brickwork cleaned back to its original appearance and then repointed in original Lime mortar. Leytonstone, East London.
Using our specially formulated cleaning techniques, we cleaned the brick work back to its original colour. After which we removed the existing mortar which had darkened over the years (theres evidence of this to the right of the picture on the neighbouring property). We then repointed the brickwork in a traditional lime mortar before tuck pointing the arch above the door in lime putty by way of tuck pointing.
Tuckpointing to 6 red brick features
Existing damaged tuckpointing was removed, brickwork was then cleaned and then finally repointed in an original tuckpoint finish using lime mortar. We also used the same technique on 2 arches to property (above porch and to window on first floor).

Removal of old mortar, brickwork cleaned and fully repointed
Firstly we removed timber doors and frames as the customer wanted to replace them once we had fully completed our transformation. Then secondly we sealed up the window frames with specially designed plastic membrane sheeting.
We then had a 2 tier scaffold erected to cover the front and side of the building. Once up, we began to remove the old loose and crumbling pointing using our mechanical equipment and hand tools.
After all the old existing pointing was fully removed we coated the brickwork in our environmentally friendly solution which we then washed using a pressure washer, taking away with it the dirt and grime that had built up since it was built in late 1950’s
Once cleaned we began to repoint the brickwork in a soft sand and lime mortar mixture using our flush repointing technique which the customer requested. After the pointing was completed, the building was brushed down by hand to remove any excess dust and mortar. The scaffold was dismantled the following day to the customers delight, and all waste and rubbish was taken away by ourselves leaving a beautiful looking barn how it would have looked originally.
Brick cleaning, removal of existing mortar and repointing the entire front of property
Cleaned Brickwork, removal of existing mortar between bricks and re-pointed using lime mortar. Bexley, SE London. May 2012
Firstly we cleaned the brickwork carefully and safely using a specially formulated mortar cleaning solution which we then pressure washed off. Secondly, once the customer was happy with the outcome of the brick cleaning, we raked out existing damaged mortar between each individual brick with our Makita 5”angle grinders. Once we got to a depth of around 30-35mm we began re-pointing the entire front of the property using carefully selected sand and lime mortar to get a good consistent texture and colour. Once finished we thoroughly tidied up and cleared away our rubbish to the customers satisfaction.
